Portia Motaung

Portia Motaung: Civil Servant. Artist and Aspiring Designer

Portia Motaung is a family orientated wife and mother of two. After her matric year, she enrolled for a course in Public Relations at Technikon SA in '96 but had to drop out due to financial challenges. In 2001, her mother met a tragic death, but despite all these adverse life events, Portia didn't give up. Her greatest motivation is seeing empowered women empower other women. Among many of her beautiful qualities, Portia’s friends adore her ability to be a phenomenal listener.
In 2002 a friend gave Portia a heads-up about a JMPD vacancy advertised in the local paper. Portia quickly jumped on it, and 10 years later, Portia is an office-based admin clerk, a natural problem solver. She enjoys finding solutions to any challenges presented at her workplace and goes the extra mile because of her deep passion for helping others.
When she's not at work, Portia finds herself spending time with her family. She enjoys traveling as it allows her to learn about diverse cultures. Portia is immersed in a business venture within the transport industry. She has inspired many seamstress' designs and plans to study fashion design after discovering her hidden natural talent for sketching.
